Keeping Active During the Holidays

The holidays are here! A chance to slow down, spend time with family, and enjoy a well-deserved break from the busy routine of school and classes. But while the studio might be on pause, that doesn’t mean your dancing has to stop altogether. The trick is finding the right balance: keeping your body moving while also giving yourself the rest you need.

Why It’s Good to Stay Active

When you keep your body moving over the holidays, you’ll feel so much better coming back into the studio. Staying active doesn’t have to mean full dance classes, it can be as simple as:

  • Doing a few stretches when you wake up

  • Having a living room dance party with your family

  • Going for a swim or a walk with friends

  • Running through a combo or drill for 10 minutes just to keep your muscle memory sharp

Even little bursts of movement help you stay flexible, strong, and confident for when classes start again. Plus, moving your body is such a good mood booster, it keeps your energy up and makes you feel good inside and out.

Come join our fun Technique Holiday Workshops to work on stretch and strength. Option of attending both classes or just one!

🕐: Thursday 2nd October 10am - 11:30am AND Thursday 9th October 10am - 11:30am. OPEN TO ALL aged 6yrs - 13yrs: $20 per class, $30 for both classes

Why Rest Matters Just As Much

On the flip side, holidays are also the perfect time to rest. Dance is tough on the body, and giving yourself a break is how your muscles repair and get stronger. Rest also helps you avoid burnout, it’s a chance to reset your mind, reflect on what you’ve achieved, and get excited about what’s ahead.

At DNE Studios, we love seeing our dancers come back from the holidays refreshed, inspired, and ready to go. So this break, keep dancing when you feel like it, take time to rest when you need it, and most importantly, enjoy your break!
