Why Every Child Should Try Ballet (Even If They’ve Never Danced Before!)

Ballet is more than just tutus and point shoes. Although they are fun added bonuses they are only the beginning of what ballet really is. All the way from pre-school age, ballet builds
the foundations of gross motor skills and coordination in young people.
Builds Strength & Co-ordination
Ballet teaches children of all ages to control and move their bodies. From balancing on one foot to jumping, turning and travelling across the room, children are constantly developing their coordination, balance, strength and body awareness.
These skills aren't just important for ballet, they can support children in other sports and physical activities too.
Develops Confidence

Walking into a dance class for the first time can be a big step for a child, especially if they have never danced before. Over time, learning new movements, performing in front of others and celebrating their progress helps children become more confident in themselves and their abilities.
Encourages Discipline & Focus
Ballet teaches children that progress takes practice. Learning a new step or combination doesn't always happen straight away, and that's okay! Ballet encourages children to listen, concentrate, practise and keep trying even when something feels difficult.
Improves Musicality & Creativity

Ballet isn't just about learning movements, it's all about learning to move with the music. Children develop an understanding of rhythm, timing and musicality while also being encouraged to express themselves through movement.
So, Why Ballet?
Ballet gives children so much more than dance technique. It helps develop strong bodies, confident minds, creativity, discipline and friendships, all while giving them the chance to have fun and express themselves.
At DNE Studios we offer ballet from our Youngstars Pre-School Classes all the way up to RAD Advanced 1 ballet students. Students have the opportunity to participate in ballet examinations, ballet performance teams, go on point, attend the Monica Halliday Awards.

Our ballet faculty is led by the incredible RAD teachers Miss Jacque and Miss Shannon and RAD teacher in training Miss Katrina. Whether your child is taking their very first ballet class or working towards their next RAD examination, there's a place for them at DNE Studios.
